Elon Musk’s first son, Nevada, whom he shared with his ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson, tragically passed away at just 10 weeks old in 2002 due to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
During their time together, the couple went on to have five more children.
Musk has previously spoken about the heartbreaking loss, revealing that he held his son in his arms as he took his final breath. Expressing his deep pain, he once stated:
“I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame.”
Errol Musk Criticizes His Son’s Parenting
Despite Musk’s silence on the matter in recent years, his father, Errol Musk, has now spoken out about Nevada’s passing, placing blame on his son’s parenting style.
In a podcast interview on the South African show Wide Awake, Errol Musk claimed:
“The first child was too much with nannies and died in the care of a nanny.”
He continued with a comment that he knew would anger his son, saying:
“If Elon hears this, he’s gonna shoot me or something, but anyway, that’s what I think.”
Errol Musk has children with his stepdaughter. Imagine raising a girl child to have children with her. This man is disgusting to the core. Just like his son Elon Musk. pic.twitter.com/KaE9qDAxVp

Errol went on to criticize both Musk and his ex-wife, stating:
“They were too rich, [had] too many nannies… then he had five children with the same woman – five sons, all brought up with their own nanny. You following me?”
He also shared details of the couple’s arrangement after their separation, which he found unusual:
“When they got divorced, the nannies were six on this side and six on that side. So it was a really weird situation.”
Justine Wilson’s Heartbreaking Account
Wilson has also opened up about Nevada’s death. In an essay for Marie Claire, she wrote:
“Nevada went down for a nap, placed on his back as always, and stopped breathing. By the time the paramedics resuscitated him, he had been deprived of oxygen for so long that he was brain-dead.
He spent three days on life support in a hospital in Orange County before we made the decision to take him off it. I held him in my arms when he died.”
A Strained Father-Son Relationship
Elon Musk’s relationship with his father has long been troubled. In past interviews, Musk has described Errol as “a terrible human being” and accused him of being “physically violent” toward him during his childhood.
Elon Musk’s Expanding Family
Musk, already a father of 12, is now rumored to have had another child. Recently, author Ashley St. Clair claimed that she had secretly given birth to his 13th child.
Explaining why she had kept it private, she stated:
“I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.
I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment.”
