I’ve always been a housewife, taking care of my two stepchildren while my husband worked hard to provide for our family. Recently, I inherited $40k from my dad, and my husband suggested it should be used for family expenses. I told him, “My dad left this money for me, and I want to spend it on myself!”
He didn’t say much in response.
But the next day, I was shocked to find that my closet was completely emptied. Most of my shoes, bags, and favorite clothes were gone. I went into the living room and saw my things packed up in boxes.
He looked at me and said, “I thought marriage was about supporting each other, but apparently you don’t think so.” Then, with a smirk, he added, “Now that you’ve got your dad’s money, maybe you can buy your own things.”
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!
It’s been a few days, and we’re not speaking to each other at all. Did I overreact?
