Meghan Markle has made a huge splash on social media releasing a video of her running on a beach and a sneak preview of her new Netflix series – but some observers have been riled when they noticed a key thing missing.
The Duchess of Sussex started 2025 on January 1 with a posts on her new @meghan Instagram page sharing an enchanting video of herself enjoying a day by the seaside running and writing out the digits of the new the year in the sand.
And in another post today the 43-year-old added another update with a post about her new lifestyle Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.
The eight-part series, which launches on January 15, sees Meghan inviting friends and famous guests to a California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening, and hosting tips.
But some royal observers appeared disgruntled they apparently couldn’t share their views on Ms Markle’s updates, as it appeared the comment function was disabled.
Taking to X to vent their frustration, one user rather harshly noted: “[She] turned off comments.”
Another added: “She will have to keep the comments shut down because no one has anything nice to say to her.”
Someone else chimed in: “A girl has got to stay relevant.”
However, there were also some who posted in support of the Duchess, with one individual posting that Meghan was “slaying” – a slang term for someone doing well.
They wrote: “…good on her for switching her comments off. She can do whatever she wants. She keeps slaying, and a haters keep dying of envy.”
Meghan’s first post on the new Instagram page showed her running towards the surf on a pristine beach wearing a white shirt and trousers.
The playful footage shows the Duchess write out ‘2025’ in the sand as the ocean roars in the background before she gives a giggle and smile and runs off camera.
Her new profile, at the time of writing, has already amassed nearly one million followers in just 24 hours.
The Duchess of Sussex’s first look at her new lifestyle series on Netflix was announced a day after she returned to Instagram with her beach video.
